Become the delegate representing your country to Mr Gay Europe 2023

Updated: Mar 7

The Mr Gay Europe competition will take place this year from August 20 to 27, 2023, at Alnwick Castle in Great Britain, and it's now time to register if you want to be the delegate representing Spain (or 12 other European countries) and maybe become the titleholder.

Mr Gay Europe competition is looking for delegates representing Spain or 12 other countries in Europe.

In Mr Gay Europe, if the national organizations or producers do not present any candidates for their countries, it is possible to register on your own, and anyone who wants to take part can do it. So, if you are interested, now is the time to send your application for Spain and 12 other European countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, Ireland - Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Scotland, Sweden, and Wales).

Anyone who identifies as a gay man and has lived in a European country for at least 12 months can register to represent their home country. The Mr Gay Europe competition is owned by the Norwegian-based company Move On Productions. This competition took place for the first time in Oslo in 2005. This is the 15th time the competitions will take place. The finalists will be staying at Alnwick Castle, the very same place where scenes from films and series like Harry Potter and Downton Abbey have been filmed.

As much diversity among the finalists as possible

The MGE-team wants to advocate for as much diversity among the finalists as possible and encourages any gay man to register, regardless of age, color, cultural background, religion, etc. Transmen and persons with disabilities are also welcome. The first step to becoming a finalist is to register online before the deadline, which is this year set to July 1, 2023. The only limit is that you must be able to travel to and stay in Alnwick from August 20–27, 2023.

The persons who register through the website will be interviewed on Teams/Zoom, and their registration forms will be examined. The MGE-team and a special committee will pick the one that will represent the country in question. Only one person per country will be picked to take part in the final.

A competition with "LGBTQ+ Mental Health" for theme

Each year, Mr Gay Europe focuses on a specific theme. The theme for 2023 is "Mental Health," and the focus will be on how we all can contribute to better mental health for the LGBT+ population. When you register, you will be asked which subject within the theme you think is most important or needs to be addressed in the year to come. Another point is that all the delegates will be asked, during the week, to come up with "Our Project" which both the titleholder and the other finalists would like to work on for the next twelve months.

This year’s producer is the same as last year's, previous Mr Gay Europe delegate and Mr Gay World titleholder Stuart Hatton Jr. The finalists will spend a whole week with exciting challenges, interesting seminars, and excellent chances to build their own pan-European network and meet new friends. The MGE-team and the National Producer will make sure that the finalists have a very special week filled with important knowledge and wonderful memories to take back home.
