Every month, Dunas Map names an influential or active person in the Maspalomas gay community as the "Man of the Month." This December, we have selected Franck Deloux, a professional masseur and a volunteer involved in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. We had a nice chat with him. Find out more below.
Hello Franck, thank you for accepting to answer our questions. First of all, could you introduce yourself as completely as possible ?
My name is Franck Deloux, I am 51 years old and I am originally from France. I am a massage therapist at Massage Gay Maspalomas in Playa del Inglés. I started practicing wellness massage in 2012, after training at IFJS (Institut de Formation Joël Savatofski) and Miki School, both recognized institutions in the field of massage.
For ten years, from 2012 to 2022, I worked as a masseur in Paris, where I was able to refine my skills and develop a personalized approach to wellness. Today, I offer quality massages in Maspalomas, focusing on human connection and attentive listening, serving the gay community.
Tell us about your massage practice: Why did you choose to become a massage therapist ? What types of massages do you offer ?
I chose to become a massage therapist because I have always been drawn to well-being and human connection. This profession allows me to help people relax, let go, and regain physical and emotional balance. I especially appreciate the quality of the relationship created during a session, based on trust and attentive listening.
I offer various types of massages: Californian, Swedish, and Lomi Lomi Nui, as well as a naturist, sensual, and intimate massage, using gentle and enveloping gestures to relax the body and soothe the mind. My approach is to combine these different techniques to create a tailor-made massage, adapted to each person according to their needs and expectations.
For couples or friends, I also offer a "duo massage", where the partner can actively participate in massaging his spouse or friend. I am there to guide, demonstrate a few techniques, and help create a unique moment of sharing.
I offer these services in my massage studio, located at the Prisma Shopping Center, Avenida de España, 7, in Maspalomas, right in the heart of Playa del Inglés.
What brought you to Gran Canaria ? How long have you lived here ?
What I love about Maspalomas is, of course, the exceptional climate all year round, but also the strong gay community and the friendly atmosphere that prevails here. The first time I came to Gran Canaria with my husband was in 2012. We then returned at least once a year, each time charmed by the island’s way of life. Finally, in 2022, we decided to take the plunge and settle here for good.
You are very involved as a volunteer for the Checkpoint Canarias association; can you tell us more about it ?
I discovered the Checkpoint Canarias project thanks to a friend who was involved from the very beginning. Having already been involved in Paris with a sexual health prevention association (ENIPSE), it felt natural to get involved in this new adventure in Gran Canaria. I take part in fundraising activities at the Yumbo, and I also support the association as a sponsor.
Volunteering has always been important in my life. In France, I was president and organizer of the Puppy Play association for over ten years. These experiences have allowed me to engage concretely for the community, promote prevention, and encourage mutual support.
You received an award thanks to TripAdvisor; is it important to you ? How did you feel ?
Receiving an award via TripAdvisor was a wonderful surprise and a great source of pride for me. It’s a valuable recognition because it comes directly from the feedback and reviews of my clients. I didn’t apply for this award; it came naturally thanks to the satisfaction and loyalty of those who visit my salon.
When I learned the news, I felt a lot of gratitude and emotion. It reinforced my belief that the quality of the welcome, attentive listening, and personalized massages are essential. It is also a magnificent reward for all the work accomplished and an extra motivation to continue offering the best to everyone who walks through the door of the salon.
What are your favorite places or events in Maspalomas ? Where do you like to go out ?
In Maspalomas, I love enjoying life and all the great places the island has to offer. Among my favorite spots is the Voulez-Vous bar, where the atmosphere is always friendly and the cocktails are excellent. Tom’s Bar is also a must: it’s a place where you immediately feel at ease, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or meeting new people. For good food, I recommend the Spritz restaurant, a real gem for generous Italian cuisine in a laid-back setting. And of course, a special mention for the Eiffel Bar, a French-speaking spot where it’s great to have an aperitif and chat in a cheerful atmosphere.
As for events, I never miss the summer Pride, the Winter Pride, or the Fetish Pride. These are highlights of the year, where celebration, diversity, and tolerance are in the spotlight. The atmosphere is incredible, and you meet people from all over the world.
The gay beach of Maspalomas is also one of my favorite places. It’s a must-visit meeting point for the LGBT+ community, where you can sunbathe, swim, chat, meet new people, or simply enjoy the ocean and the sun in a relaxed and judgment-free atmosphere.
For fun, I like to alternate between lively evenings, dinners with friends, relaxing moments at the beach, and walks in nature. Here, there’s always something to do and great people to meet !

Throughout this interview, I believe my passion for well-being, sharing, and community involvement comes through clearly. My move to Maspalomas is the result of a story of the heart, of encounters and opportunities, in a place where authenticity and friendliness are central. Whether through my work as a massage therapist, my involvement in associations, or during my moments of relaxation, I make it a point every day to create connections, bring positivity, and contribute, in my own way, to the richness of local life. I will continue to welcome, listen to, and support everyone who comes through the door of the salon with the same spirit of openness and kindness that means so much to me.
A Few Personal Favorites
Your best trips: Apart from my many trips to Gran Canaria, one of my best travel memories remains a scuba diving experience in Hurghada, Egypt. I’ve also had the chance to discover several cities in Spain, such as Barcelona, Sitges, Seville, and Madrid, all of which captivated me with their culture and unique atmosphere.
The type of music you listen to: Music-wise, I’m a big fan of pop: Michael Jackson has always been a true legend and source of inspiration for me, as well as Lady Gaga, Mylène Farmer, Madonna, or Kylie Minogue. I love the energy and creativity of these artists.
The movies you like:
When it comes to movies, I have a soft spot for adventure, science fiction, and even horror films – I love when cinema takes me on a journey or gives me chills !
Personalities who inspire you: Finally, the personality who inspires me the most is definitely Michael Jackson. His talent, his ability to bring people together, and his artistic commitment have always impressed me. Follow Franck on social media :
