- LAB46 describes itself as the first science brand to rethink queer intimacy. Where did that idea come from?
From a very real gap that no one seemed willing to address. Queer sexuality is discovered differently, lived differently, and experienced differently than what mainstream culture assumes as the default. In gay culture especially, sexuality is highly visible — yet still surrounded by misinformation, unrealistic expectations, and shame. Many people, even within the queer community, feel insecure or misinformed when it comes to the realities of their intimate lives. And the market? It offered either oversexualized products that felt like a joke or generic wellness brands that slapped a rainbow on the packaging and called it a day. Neither spoke to us with any real depth or understanding. What was missing was something grounded. Something precise. A brand rooted in the lived experience of gay men — built on the understanding that queer intimacy deserves its own science, not borrowed frameworks from somewhere else. That’s what LAB46 is. And while we started here, the need turned out to be much broader than we expected. Today Lab46 is embraced by people of all identities, many of our customers are women, heterosexual men, and people across the full spectrum of diversity. Because real confidence starts with knowledge — and that’s universal. We don’t exclude anyone. But we also don’t water down where we come from. That’s why we built it.

- What does 'taking those needs seriously' look like in practice?
